KATE + GABE

A CAPE COD WEDDING AT THE PELHAM HOUSE RESORT IN DENNIS PORT, MA

Kate + Gabe had a gorgeous, warm August day when they tied the knot, the perfect weather for a Cape Cod wedding! I loved working with this fun couple to design their dream day from the ground up. The Pelham House in Dennis Port had just opened for the season and it was the perfect canvas for lots of beautiful blooms, creating the most romantic, coastal celebration. Also, the ceremony lawn overlooking the ocean is stunning - just wait until you see the view!

To set the tone of their Cape Cod festivities, Max and Maiden Ink designed a beautiful letterpressed invitation suite with watercolor details. Inside the calligraphed envelopes were watercolor whale envelope liners.

Ninety Two Design Co. created a gorgeous bouquet of peach, pink and white blossoms for Kate, with  blue floral accents picking up her Loeffler Randall shoes.

The morning of, Kate and her bridesmaids got ready at the Pelham House Resort. Hair by Cathleen Foster and Leather and Lace Artistry made sure their locks were perfect, while Amanda McCarthy Beauty made each of them glow.

Kate looked stunning in her A-line gown from Head over Heels Bridal Boutique. The rhinestone and pearl belt and dainty covered buttons that reached all the way down to the bottom of her chapel-length train added a touch of glamour.

Kate’s dad beamed with pride when he saw how beautiful his daughter looked on her wedding day.

Meanwhile across the resort, Gabe and his groomsmen donned their suits and boutonnieres. He looked so sharp in blue!

Before the ceremonies, Kate + Gabe had their first look with the ocean as their backdrop. Gabe was just speechless when he saw how gorgeous Kate looked. We adore a groom in awe of his bride!

Also at the first look was their adorable dog, who wore a matching flower collar. We always love to include animal friends in the wedding planning process and it was fun for Kate + Gabe to have their furbaby there.

Kate’s bridesmaids wore an assortment of floral summer dresses, adding to the Cape vibe of the celebration, while Gabe’s groomsmen matched him in blue suits.

The day before the wedding, Kate's Mom ended up in the hospital and was not able to make it to the ceremony or the reception. As a last-minute change to the schedule, we were able to scoot Kate over to Cape Cod Hospital to visit with her mom before the festivities started. While obviously not ideal, this turned out to be a very special moment between Kate and her mom and she was certainly remembered during the rest of the day.

Once she got back to the Resort, Kate donned her delicate lace-edged veil before making her way down the aisle.

One of my favorite parts of Kate + Gabe’s wedding (besides the design, of course) was the Pelham House’s ceremony lawn. With a sweeping view of the Atlantic Ocean, it is one of the most beautiful places to say your vows.

Instead of a raised arbor, Ninety-Two Design Co. installed a gorgeous grounded floral arch, as well as two large arrangements at the beginning of the aisle.

With all of their guests and the wedding party in place, it was time for the “I dos”. Kate’s father walked her down the aisle to “Can’t help falling in love.”

After sealing their love with a kiss, Kate + Gabe headed back down the aisle, with their pup leading the way!

As guests enjoyed cocktail hour, Kate + Gabe snuck away for a few moments alone. Catherine Band Photography shot these beautiful sunset portraits as they wandered the property.

To welcome their guests, Boston Backdrops created a beautiful custom escort display wall for Kate + Gabe’s “Favorite People.” On each escort card was a gold embossed whale tale, harking back to the invitation suite! More flowers at the base of the wall, and smilax greens at the top created a stunning entryway.

Kate wanted a statement piece at her head table and for the rest of the room to feel minimal but full of pretty details, so we had the flower arch from the ceremony installed at the base of the table.

Throughout the room, farm tables draped in sky blue linens had tall floral arrangements of summer blooms and lush greens. Below, candles shimmered in glass and rattan holders, with greens woven throughout.

Compotes of roses, pink dahlias and greens sat atop the round guest tables. A white napkin was folded at each place setting with a personalized watercolor blue, gold and white menu.

Tall pillar candles in glass holders glowed at the bottom of the ballroom staircase while smilax and lush floral wound their way up.

Atop their cake, which was decorated with fresh flowers and gold leaf accents, was a wooden bride and groom painted to look exactly like Kate + Gabe, as well as their dog. Such an adorable touch!

After entering the reception to a round of applause, Kate + Gabe had their first dance as husband and wife to “Sugar Magnolia.”

For the Father Daughter dance, Kate’s dad twirled her around to “Werewolves of London” - so fun! Then Gabe and his mom took the floor to “The Rainbow Connection”. Everyone was so excited to then join in for a night full of celebration!

It was wonderful working closely with Kate on their big day as she was so relaxed and open to ideas. It really allowed us free rein to create the Cape Cod wedding of their dreams.

Thank you so much, Kate + Gabe, for trusting us to create a celebration that we hope you will remember for the rest of your lives. We wish you happiness and love!
